Low Mood

Persistent low mood accumulates over time and can be multifaceted in its origin. It can make hiding away in our “cave”; feel like the best option. However, being stuck in this state often results in a continuation or worsening of the low mood. People who suffer from low mood often have very low self-esteem, little or no confidence, feel demotivated, and have difficulty in social situations. Appetite and sleep patterns can also be affected.

When low mood persists and there doesn’t seem to be an underlying cause, seeking medical advice is advisable. SFH works well with people taking medication for depression. By guiding the mind into a deeply relaxed state, hypnotherapy can help identify and release negative beliefs and emotions that contribute to low mood. By focusing your mind on where you want to be rather than where you don’t want to be, you can begin to take small, positive steps in turning the situation around. SFH can also help cultivate feelings of self-worth and inner strength, providing a sense of hope and empowerment. You can begin to experience positive changes in your sleep patterns and day-to-day life, feeling more relaxed and in control.

I use the term low mood rather than depression. The lines are sometime a bit blurred and obviously can overlap. If you are suffering from Clinical Depression-this may be where you have had several prolonged episodes of depression or are in a place where you are feeling numb or hopeless then more specialised treatment may be beneficial. If you are in the UK then usually the first step would be via your GP. If you are unsure if SFH is appropriate you then I am happy to talk to you on the phone and discuss this with you.

How many sessions will I need?

We can discuss this in the intro call or the first session. The number of sessions you need will vary. Everybody is different.

An average of 8-12 sessions will be required for stress-related problems and anxiety.

Specific phobias such as a fear of flying or spiders will usually require about 4 sessions.
