Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for Neurodivergent Individuals & Highly Sensitive People
If you are neurodivergent or a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) can be an effective way to help manage many of the challenges you may face daily.
Living in a ‘neurospicy’ family and surrounded by friends and their families in similar situations, this is an area of deep interest for me. I realise we are like magnets to each other, and many of my clients are neurodivergent or recognise these traits in themselves. Whether you have (or suspect you have) ADHD, ASD, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), dyslexia, dyscalculia, sensory processing disorder, dyspraxia, tic disorder, or Tourette’s (or likely a combination), or if you are a Highly Sensitive Person, I can work with you to:
Increase your self-esteem
Cope better with sensitivities around rejection, dysregulation, and social anxiety
Reduce stress levels and lessen anxiety
Improve sleep
Reduce overwhelm
Help you reach your goals and move towards living the life you want to live
I work with adults and children from 8 years upwards and also support parents of neurodivergent children.
Adjustments & Sessions
I’m really friendly and approachable, and I’m here to support you in a way that works best for you. I have a low-demand approach, meaning we only do what you feel comfortable with—there’s no pressure to talk or engage if you don’t want to. While it’s great if you’d like to join in, you’re also welcome to simply observe or take part in your own way.
If you’re not comfortable with the idea of closing your eyes and lying down for relaxation, that’s absolutely fine. We can do shorter relaxation sessions, and you’re welcome to keep your hands busy with a quiet activity throughout. You’ll have access to Lego, colouring, drawing, fidget toys, kinetic sand, or my favourite—Ouisi cards! You’re also welcome to bring your crochet or a favourite toy. Most people find the sessions enjoyable and relaxing.
Each session follows a familiar format, so you’ll always know what to expect. I explain the flow and timings at the start, helping you feel at ease.
I schedule my sessions with longer gaps between clients to reduce the stress of arriving a little late, and I keep last-minute cancellation or no-show fees to an absolute minimum.
I also offer discounted rates for all neurodivergent people (and family members) at £60 per hour. Shorter sessions are also available. If you’d like to have a friendly chat before booking, I’m happy to arrange a call to discuss how I can best support you.
What is a Highly Sensitive Person?
In her groundbreaking research, Dr. Elaine Aron recognized traits in about 15% of the population, calling that subset Highly Sensitive People. Highly sensitive people are often very bright and creative, but many suffer from low self-esteem. They are sensitive to their environment and often to the feelings of others around them. They can often feel overwhelmed in busy, crowded, or noisy places. Living as a Highly Sensitive Person can make you more prone to higher levels of stress, low mood, and low self-esteem compared to the less sensitive part of the general population.
How many sessions will I need?
We can discuss this in the intro call or the first session. The number of sessions you need will vary. Everybody is different.
An average of 8-12 sessions will be required for stress-related problems and anxiety.
Specific phobias such as a fear of flying or spiders will usually require about 4 sessions.
